Unfortunately, I missed the Firefighters' visit, photo ops for their class picture, and the Community Helpers' Parade. All in one week while I'm in the US. Prior to my flight, I told Jonald to make sure Luis' costume for the parade will be a hit. Knowing Jonald, he would go for convenience. He'll probably just pick anything that would turn our boy into a Community Helper. Well, I guess I was wrong. Here is what my boys worked on: Luis the Carpenter had his hard hat on, regular friday clothes but this time with belt that held the tools and an improvised Handy Manny toolbox! They were referring to Luis' 1st Quarter assessment (also known as 1st Quarter Exams in common schools) which he perfected. :) Yes, up to now I can't help but smile when I think about what transpired 10 hours ago. Jonald and I arrived 15 minutes earlier than our appointment. The PTC was done in their conference room which had dividers to segregate the 4 classes that were conducting the PTC. There were a number of parents waiting for their turn, including the two of us. When our turn finally came, we sat in front of Luis' teachers who first appeared to be hesitant to tell us the results of Luis' assessment. It turned out, they were too happy to tell us that Luis perfected the exam and that they cannot say anything else because he got everything correctly. Oh yes. Luis turned 4 last July 16th. His school has advised all parents during our orientation that all parties can only be done on a Friday and during snack time. In short, we can only have a 30-minute snacks only bday party on a Friday nearest Luis' bday. I didn't realize that Friday would be the 13th day of the month. Flashback 2 months ago. Thinking of a theme wasn't that hard as Luis' current fave is nonetheless Thomas the Tank. But in Manila, you can hardly find any Thomas party stuff. Good thing I was US bound last May. In the land where Thomas was everywhere, I managed to get my invites and party cups from there. Then thanks to Emi who sent Luis his school bag with stickers and a bday banner. I also got ready to order some more stuff until I found out that we will only be allowed to do a 30-minute party. From then on, I only had one thing left to order...the bday cake!
